Their website advertises an individual contact address for graphic design internships, and the following message was sent via email:
Hello,
I want to enquire about a design internship with you. I've been following HATO for a number of years now and always love the projects you put out!
I am a designer in the final year of my degree and my specialisms are editorial and publication design, typography, and print. One of my passion projects is running and designing a small self-titled risograph publication with the collective Shy Bairns. The publication aims to provide a platform for Northern creatives in order to identify and strengthen the Northern artistic community. It's inspiring to see the scale and reach of your studio, and this is something that I also hope to achieve over the next few years. Shy Bairns has also recently been selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018. I know that HATO designed the branding for New Contemps last year and I wanted to say how much I really loved that project! Working with the artists to create the typeface resulted in such amazing type design, and strikes similarities with our own proposal for the exhibition - as a collective we will be running a series of workshops in the exhibition space, inviting other artists and the public to create a collaborative publication in response to the work around them. Much of my practice revolves around collaboration, eduction and accessibility to the arts, and it's refreshing and encouraging to see how strongly these themes also come through in your projects!
Attached is my CV and a selection of work from my portfolio, and a link to my website is below if needed!
Hope to hear from you soon, all the best,
Erin Blamire
