OUGD602 - CBS Gallery, Liverpool

Shy Bairns have been approached by CBS Gallery & Studios to curate a solo show in their exhibition space.

CBS is a gallery and workspace established in Liverpool in 2015. The studios were initially set up on with an aim to provide affordable space in the city centre for emerging artists. Now it comprises of studios, a gallery space, workshop, picture framers and a shop selling artists’ editions. The public programme is a result of ongoing conversations between the founders, studio members, collaborators and a wider artist-led community in Liverpool and further afield.

Initials ideas formed by the collective revolve around a curated show detailing the history of self-publishing in Liverpool. Research for this will be conducted while in Liverpool during our residence at the Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition. The show will be comprised of a printed publication as well as printed works, archival material and sculptural pieces.

This exhibition will provide the group and us as individuals with new and exciting opportunities to work collaboratively with the gallery and potentially other artists. It will also help us make connections in a new city that could be utilised in the future.
