OUGD602 - Contacting Caterina Bianchini

In order to try and expand my professional creative network I contacted Caterina Bianchini, a London-based graphic designer. There are many similarities between her work and my own practice, and the possibility of an internship in her studio would be a good opportunity to build on my commercial design skills and expand my portfolio.

The following message was sent via LinkedIn:

Hi Caterina,

I wanted to reach out and drop you a message because I really like what you do! I particularly love the work you did for CENTRL Office and for the Red Bull Music Academy, I thought both projects were beautiful! I'm a designer with a specialism in editorial and publication design and I've been following your studio for a while now. I would love to know if you have any internship opportunities available in your studio, or if I would be able to come and look around your studio and pick your brains about your projects and processes! I am keen to learn from such an established and influential designer such as yourself, and I think my personal design aesthetics would blend well with your current studio output.

I am currently the Editor of NEST magazine, a small independent magazine made in collaboration with students from Leeds Arts University (nestmag.online), and I am also the designer for Shy Bairns, a northern art collective which provides a printed platform for young creatives to showcase their work (shybairns.co.uk). I primarily work within print, and my background in print processes provides me with a unique approach to digital design.

Samples of my work and CV are available if required!

All the best,
Erin Blamire
